With an increase in foreign bound Nepali workers (every day, six to seven hundred Nepali workers go to gulf countries and Malaysia), an alarming numbers of dead bodies of Nepalese from their host countries have been a new blow to Nepal..

Every day, in average two dead bodies of Nepali workers arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

Nearly seven hundred fifty Nepali workers died abroad (mainly in Gulf countries and Malaysia) in 2007. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) received twenty-two applications for the shipment of Nepali workers’ dead bodies from abroad in the month of Dec 16-Jan 17,2008.

I was along with my senior reporter Deepak Adhikari for an exclusive assignment for Nepal Magazine. It was a serious topic to address for us, after a lot of research we finally got a contact of a family who was arriving to Tribhuwan International Airport to receive her husband dead body.
We followed them from airport to cremation place which is close from airport and the body was cereminated according to the Hindu rituals at Pashupatinath Aryaghat. Coincidently on the same spot we found another family whose husband was killed on mortar attack in Iraq just after a week he left the country.
